He might go the distance but he’s not winning **** like so many want to envision. When Cooney was rusty, he went 13 against Holmes, so he would’ve easily went ten, especially considering he was probably in the best shape of his career for young.
I think he would have gotten KTFO about halfway through. Young had some memorable high points topped by sending Big George to the ministry, but I was never a huge fan. Y’all know how I say Jerry Quarry is painfully overrated here. He was miles ahead of Young IMO.
Even if he didn't get a scratch, Young wasn't that good anymore. After all, he got beat twice by Ossie Ocasio. I don't have a high opinion of Cooney either but at this point of their careers, I see Gerry winning a pretty easy decision, maybe even a stoppage.
Young lost every round and was past his best he didn't have the power or style to beat a huge punching aggressive Cooney at that time.
