Because, in nearly four years of reading your posts i've formed the opinion that you're incapable of producing an unbiased view on this matter. In fairness, the same is true of McVey. You've kind of neutralised eachother.
Whoa, As I said before, films and newspapers are not written or edited by me. I only comment on them, and you won't find me being off very often one either. The ring records stand by themselves. If I say Johnson was Ko'd by a supper middle, out boxed by another by a shade according to the press, and floored again in a title fight vs. another middle, that is fact, not a biased opinion. Mcvey does not debunk what I say directly. How can, in many cases it is a stone cold fact.. Instead of dealing with the truth, he will create a tangent and spin things. Such is a mark of a defeated man in a debate. I hope you get a chance to watch some of the flims....as they will change your opinion. I have a busy week ahead of me. I have to go now. See you later
So EVERYBODY who uses newspapers and film to support their arguments is right? How can that possibly be true? You put your own spin on these newspaper articles and film, same as any other fan boy. Although to me, it's always seemed that your hatred for Johnson rather than your man-love for Jeffries was the blinding issue.
If you want to see examples of Ali's strength, see the first rounds of the Bonavena fight .. Ali throws him around like a rag doll on numerous opps and Bonavena was a brute himself ..
I lean a little towards Jeffries in a 20 round fight, mostly because it seems like people who saw Jeffries at his best leaned a bit his way (for a prme vs prime); but this is a really hard one to convince myself of ....
I realize that you are hesitant to post your hard-won footage when you've spent so much time, money, and effort to assemble it. I don't blame you. In this case, though, you may want to consider posting part of your footage on Youtube. If Jeffries shoved Johnson around in the early rounds, that would go a LONG way toward showing that Jeffries could have imposed his style on Johnson prime-for-prime. If nothing else, it would take away the argument that Johnson deprive Jeffries of his only advantage prime-for-prime, making the fight a foregone conclusion. As a final benefit, it would counteract the spectacle in the later rounds when Johnson humiliated a weak, old Jeff by handling him like a child.
I enjoy destroying the arguments of self appointed "historians " such as your pompous self. My only question is, how can you be so accurate, regarding Frazier? And, so way off base regarding Johnson? It just has to be personal. Did he have carnal knowledge of one of your great grannies? Own up ,you are among friends ,not me obviously, as April will attest. Share the BEEEEEEE in your bonnet with the forum.
# Do you really think Mendoza has footage that is denied to any regular boxing fan? Watch the ****ing fight ! Make your own mind up!
Back to page 4 ,you remember, you said Mcvey had close fights with Johnson. Answer my rebuttall, you liar.
Sorry HeGrant but if anyone doesn't think the decision in the Hart match was bull then they're dumb & stupid - in the same way with people who think there's even a 1% chance that the result in the first Dempsey-Flynn fight was genuine - come on you don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure these kind of things out - Johnson beats everyone who is anyone and remains unbeaten for like 14 years apart from getting his ass whooped by shitty Marvin Hart?? Come on man get real - yeah and Ali really did knock out Sonny Liston too - if Hart was really the master of Johnson don't you think it would've been him who went on to dethrone Burns and become champion??
I wouldnt have thought so. Hart diminished and Johnson improved. Common sense suggests that it is unlikely Hart wins a rematch, doesnt it? By the way, i agree with Cross trainer, some well designed (even hand picked) highlights from the early rounds would really change the perception of the fight (even if i understand why people dont want to do this). It is actually strange that a supposedly racist media didnt really portray this angle in the aftermath, if it exists. For the record, i have to side with Mendoza on the version of the fight, at least until i have heard commentary from someone else who has seen the entire fight.
YOU stated that McVey and Johnson's fights were close, I showed they were not by providing newspaper accounts of them. Now admit you were lying. YOU stated that Johnson hit Jeannette low on purpose because he was in danger of losing. I asked for proof of this you provided NONE Jeanette NEVER beat Johnson by decision the best he could do was a dsq. YOU put your own bull**** spin on the verdict and it is LIES. JOHNSON says his optimum weight was 208lbs and he should know. He stated he was in the shape of his life for the Jeffries fight ,and wired his brother to "put your last copper on me". Johnson originated the line ,[used later by Ali]," If I was in any better shape I would be scared of myself", he said it to John L Sullivan when Sullivan visited his training quarters prior to the fight. There is a big difference between 185lbs and 208lbs. Johnson was no where near prime when he fought Langford and every one knows it, even a liar like you. Langford had 50 fights under his belt when he fought Johnson ,more than Johnson had engaged in. Langford got a one sided thrashing ,being knocked down twice and receiving to long nine counts that is fact. Langford admitted it ,and so did his manager Joe Woodman ,and many who saw the fight attested to it. Previously you tried to say Langford knocked Johnson down . IT NEVER HAPPENED. ANOTHER LIE Previously you tried to say the Johnson Johnson fight was scheduled for 20rds IT WAS NOT, ANOTHER LIE Johnson weighed 192 for Burns not 190 and he is lean . YOU don't know how Johnson looked in the O Brien no decision six rounder ,because it was NOT filmed and you have NOT seen it. I say Langford's best weight was between 175-180lbs and I am being generous because he was 5' 7'' tall. If you dispute it have a poll on here. As late as 1922 Langford came in at 185lbs for a match with Bearcat Wright. Langford is described as being fat and out of shape in many of his heavyweight fights. IN CONCLUSION YOU ARE A LIAR . I SAY THIS NOW ON A COMPUTER ,AND, I WILL SAY IT TO YOUR FACE IN APRIL.
Hey *******, where did i says the johnson vs. Mcvey matches were close? I only recall saying johnson only scored one ko in all his matches vs. Mcvey, Jeanette, and Langford. So me where i said johnson vs. Mcvey matches were close in this thread. Unlike your sorry self who only opts to cherry pick regurgitated passages from books, i actually do some research and watch films not aired by television networks. I will wager your board existence that Jeanette did in fact work Johnson over in round one, then Johnson went low in round two, which is why the fight was a dq. Somehow Jhnson who fought dirty kept his colored title despite losing round one bad, then going low in round two. Now wager me your existence, or go **** yourself. End.
PROOF THAT JOHNSON HIT LOW ON PURPOSE,, [not unpupose ] NONE We will see who is the ASS HOLE , and ,who gets ****ed in April, when I PUNCH THE MOTHER'S **** OUT OF YOU.
