Yes it would, especially if it states Johnson deliberately fouled Jeannette to save himself from defeat.

 

I haven't read Smith's report and honestly don't know who is right .I am concerned however with Mendoza's allegation that Johnson fouled out to save himself from defeat.

I will wager your board existence that Jeanette did in fact work Johnson over in round one, then Johnson went low in round two, which is why the fight was a dq. Somehow Johnson who fought dirty kept his colored title despite losing round one bad, then going low in round two.

You must be dense. 1st I did not say McVey vs Johnson was close. Secondly, If you read what wrote here, I said Johnson lost round one, then went low in round two. Stop making up lies.

Now *******, I have the report ( Boston Daily Globe ) which clearly stated Jeanette won round one, and Johnson clearly went low in round two.

The report also says Jeanette was much lighter, and shorter. So we have a green fighter, shorter, and lighter wining, then Johnson goes low. I am having a format issue right now, but rest assured you will see the news article.

 

I think Johnson would have had a harder time, but still been the victor. Probably a decision win. Jeffries himself was quoted as saying "I don't think I could have ever beat Johnson."

 

There seems to be a size and age difference here but that does not mean much much because the small older guys have been winning lately. But if Mendoza is 4 inches taller and 20 yrs younger than McVey then it would be fair if McVey let his 6"6 240lbs 20 yr. old nephew Rocco substitute against Mendoza, for shits and giggles.

On another note there is no reason to go through with this, someone may get shot...besides we are not looking to make this another "Hatfield vs the McVeys" situation

Honestly, this quote is like someone, five or seven years from now (2010), writing a pro-Holmes article in which they claim Ali privately told people, just after loosing to Holmes, that even at his best he could never have beaten Holmes -- yet somehow the alleged Ali-quote had never seen the light of printed day for thirty-five years. Would you take such an assertion seriously?

Unless someone can find a citation for "I could have never beaten Johnson even at my best" fairly near 1910, I don't see why this 'quote' should be granted much credibility.
