In my first post ,I did say that Willard would have pressed the fight more if it had been contested over the shorter distance,to argue otherwise would be silly, imo. However given that Johnson had a handy lead over the first 22 rounds I dont think its unreasonable to assume he wins a points victory over 15 rds.I base this on the fact that Willard only assumed control of the fight when Johnson became exhausted,while he was fresh ,he was in control and, running the fight. Willard's style was to wait and counter ,from behind a probing left lead, I dont think he would have reverted into Dempsey, whatever the distance of the fight.
Thanks for the feedback, it makes sense that Johnson agreeing to such a long distance in a tropical climate would result from a combination of both factors. :good
