    I think it’s more about attitude than most here are making out. Holmes wanted to go on, Louis didn’t. The impact that has on what you can & can’t do should not be under-estimated.

    That pushes him to the second tier.

    Now a fighter at that stage of their career, can tank very quickly.

    A year after he loses to Marciano, he is not going to be the man who lost to Marciano.

    He is going to be something less than that, and there is no modern medicine to help him.

    So who beats him next?

    Probably the person that you least expect, as was the case with Tyson at the same stage of his career.
