I don't think it would change much. Marciano's insane and that alone causes the division in opinion. Look at the men he beat. There is no excuse that normalizes his stats there. You can call them bums but heaps fought bums. You can claim old but it really doesn't hold up in stats, that's a resume issue. Just raw numbers 49-0 or 48-1 dig this: Of them 25 would retire five fights or less from the date when they faced Marciano. Easy math, more than half, majority. The majority of men who faced Marciano had enough of boxing shortly after facing Marciano insane. Plenty of people fought fixed, plenty of people fought bums, plenty fought old. Marciano broke them though and no so many can make that claim. 925ft-lbs ... tf is you saying? Y'all really let that go quickly. He beat the champ, former champ, champ before him, lhw champ, euro champ, british champ, the local highly thought of contender, the western heavily promoted contender, and the Ring mag pick for next champion. .... one of if not the most dominant runs ever. I just don't think 48-1 changes him much in the light of his feats and ****. Either those speak to you or they don't. That said, I do think Walcott's stock would be a spot higher. One of the trickiest HWs ever barely gets any respect because he's stuck between Joe ****in Louis, Ezzard Charles, and Rocky Marciano. ... Those some GOATs and even Rocco's haters understand why he sucks to fight for an aged HW.
