I don't know if they told them that or not but it makes sense. But the fact is PBF had never had a PPV fight until he fought Gatti and they were both HBO fighters.
Look at who they came together for. And only TWICE. I find it amazing you seem to blame Floyd for these two networks not coming together to make a fight between Floyd and Zoo when neither fighter could warrant such a fight.
They've never come together for non PPV event, what makes you think they would start? The two fights they put together were mega events. Why would either help promote the other if there wasn't a lot of money to be made?
There you go again using emoticons as if it makes you smart. Fact is you blame Floyd for not making a fight happen between him and Zoo when it could never happen anyway. You seem to think its just so easy for the two networks to just come together like its no problem, obviously you know nothing if you think that.
PPV is the only way a fight like that would come off the two networks need mega names in order to pull it off and make up the difference. PBF was a rising talent at that time not well known and Zoo was an inactive aging fighter not that well known in the US either. I can tell you don't know much about the boxing business.atsch
He's a tool. He thinks its just easy to have two networks combine together for a show, you would think if that was the case that other fights would have been made in the past? Yet it's never happened for any non PPV event. It's only happened for mega PPVs.
I blame him for fighting TWO title eliminators to fight Gatti... making excuses which I posted already that he made about Zooo..and for NOT persuing a fight with Zoo...show me, tell me when he persued it in anyway..Show me where the networks said no.. or DROP THE EXCUSE newflash HE HAD THREE FIGHTS AT 140..TWO OF THEM WERE TITLE ELIMINATORS FOR GATTTIS BELT.. guess who he third fight was :happy its not rocket science
I know. He doesn't understand that you have to have big name fighters in order to do a cross-promotion fight and that the only way they will do cross-promotion is PPV to make up the loss money. What about big names like Pea-Chavez and Tyson-Lewis doesn't he understand? There's a reason why it has only happened twice.:deal
Floyd wanted the WBC belt. Gatti offered to vacate the belt to make the fight but Floyd declined wanting Gatti to keep the belt. Gatti was the best fight available at 140 :deal As for the networks telling Floyd no. There isn't going to be any article I can show you that will back my fact, you really think that HBO is going to release a statement about what they what they said to Floyd and team. Fact is Floyd could never pursue the fight in the first place that's why he pushed Zoo off as a fight that shouldn't happen.
