Are you serious? Margarito looked like **** in those early rounds against Lujan when he was trying to "box." Matter of fact, Brian Kenny gave Lujan 4 rounds in the 1st half of the fight. Marg didn't look good until he threw that style out the window and became more aggressive in the second half of the fight.
i was rewatching the margarito vs cintron fight, they said margarito threw 1,600 punches against joshua clottey, if he fights at a pace like that against cotto then i don;t know if cotto will be able to handle him. But then again cotto is a machine aswell
Cotto wins if he does that. If Marg "FIGHTS" and pressures Cotto it will end up a KO at the hands of Marg. Cotto will loose when he faces Antonio, IF Marg fights his fight and pressures Cotto forcing him to trade. I gurantee!
He can do both Charlie. Nothing says he has to give up his height to be a pressure fighter. He just has to operate at his distance and force Cotto to take more chances. The thing about being taller is that you make the smaller man more predictable. And the taller you are, the more of a B line the opponent must follow to hit you.
Cotto will have such a significant speed and quickness advantage that Margo's height will be completely neutralized.
With all these predictions transpiring along with heated debate based on nothing that has happened yet, I suggest the promoters indefinetly postpone the fight so that we might continue predicting without ever knowing what would really have happened. My heart is with Margarito. He's waited long for the big shot. He will enter the fight as the underdog. Cotto has yet to face anyone ( in my opinion) of Margos stature, Shane Mosely being the only fighter of note to come close, and that was a close fight. The best any of us can hope for is that the fighter we'd like to see win, wins. Margo has been dodged, ducked and overshadowed for years experiencing very little of the limelight he so richly deserves for his many years of training, his heart as a fighter and toughness demonstrated in some of his fights. We shall see.
cotto will make this **** look easy mark my words this **** won't last 6 rounds. margo will be ko'dby a thunderous body shot. or his face will be ripped apart and the fight will be stopped on cuts(which actually could pro long the fight but no more then 1 round). cotto will ensure he shows his superior skills
I do agree Marg can do both....but Boxing is not what will beat cotto! Pressure will bust pipes and Cotto knows how to crank up the pressure. The question is can Cotto adapt and persevere throught the pressure that Marg will most certainly bring. I doubt it...I think Cotto's heart will want to square up and bang with Marg. Which will be his undoing in my opinion. Cott will need to be the one boxing from "Ding to Dong" in order to beat Marg. That will be a true test for Cotto. Marg is tall and he logically should fight "Tall", but he's at his best chest to chest banging on the inside utilizing those uppercuts and hooks to the body. it would be different if Marg showed that he does have a different look and boxed on occasion with good results. But it's not the time to try a new style against a guy like Cotto...he needs to do what works for him and that is to apply that Tijujana Tornado style.
He doesn't KthemTFO per say. What he does do is punish the **** out of all of them and makes them quit. Really takes the fight out of other fighters better than anyone I'v seen in quite a while. He should be tagged "The Punisher", not Williams.
