Whitaker UD Taylor was definitely faster of hand than Pernell and his workrate was spectacular too. But Pernell was a more solid fighter technically, a more cerebral fighter, and a more versatile one. I think Pernell's defense and speed would somewhat offset Taylor's stellar offense and the punch I see landing consistently, more than any other from either guy, is the jab of Pernell. I'd look for him to outbox Meldrick.
what i meant by that statement was that meldrick was looked at as the best fighter from the 84 olympic team prior to the chavez fight and he was the one that was supposed to become the big p4p legend from that team, not whitaker.
