Fading in 1995…the year when Seldon stopped him and Akinwande outpointed him, which is the version that Moorer would have faced.Do you think he was still at his best then? That’s when Moorer would have fought him….not back in ‘87 when Tyson fought him. Not seeing the paradox in this at all..we’re talking about a fight that would have happened 8 years after the Tyson fight.
Tucker fought Tyson in 1987. The hypothetical fight with Moorer would have been 8 years later in 1995, the year after the hypothetical win over Foreman. It’s the 1995 version of Tucker that we’re talking about. This isn’t a prime vs prime matchup, it’s a “what if?” scenario, where Moorer beats Foreman in 1994 and then makes his mandatory defense against Tony Tucker in 1995. That Tucker, in real life, lost to Bruce Seldon and Henry Akinwande in 1995. Again, I’m not seeing the paradox…no one is saying he was fading back in 1987.
Thanks! I was wondering if I was describing the scenario the wrong way…no-one is suggesting sticking prime, undefeated 1987 Tucker in a Time Machine to fight Moorer eight years later. Maybe he thought Tyson-Tucker happened in ‘97 and not ‘87?
He still loses to Evander in a rematch because he fights him even earlier (the one who ran over the ghost of Iron Mike). Or he fights Tyson or Lennox instead of Evander and then loses to them. Those would've been the fights he would've been positioned into.
