I've been reading a lot of the posts here lately about Cotto, and it's gotten to the point that he can't possibly lose in any of the matchups until the Mayweather fight happens, or if it happens. But what if he does mess up and recieve the first loss of his career, what will that mean for the welterweight division, for Cotto's stature himself, and for Mayweather?

I made a post on this already and people couldn't really comment because they said it wouldn't happen.

    Exactly.

So what if he loses? Keep on fighting. He already has some very nice wins.

Depends on the way he loses. Tito never was the same after B-Hop.

Not too much, either you win or lose in boxing, besides fighting the best is what matters and if he fights Floyd and loses the fight, what can one do? Floyd is a great champion. I just want the fight to happen.

He won't lose to Gomez, but if he gets a tougher fight next, which he probably will, and he loses, it would be a major set back in his career. And he would probably be a bit like another Magarito. Before he lost to Williams, everbody thought PBF should fight him, then when Willams beat Magarito, everbody thought he was over-rated and PBF would wipe the floor with him. I hope this doesn't happen though, because I think Cotto is far better than Magarito, and would give PBF a tough fight, maybe the toughest of his career, but would probably lose.

If he loses he won't fight mayweather, that's for sure.

Mind he probably wont anyway, Mayweather is gonna keep fighting DLH and Ricky Hatton for a few years and retire.

Thank you to the guys who are actually answering the question. To those that say so what if he loses, what would your feelings be towards the things I stated above?

    if cotto loses?

it will be bad for cotto, mayweather, boxing, and the fans

our p4p no 1 would now not have a true challenger to the throne.
