Seen him a few times, in the flesh once . Good boxer, though something extraordinary would have to happen for an upset here.Very, very sound bloke Jennings is.
I've seen Michael a few times live. He is a decent domestic fighter, good attitude, good movement and a handy chin.....he is no where, no way a match for Cotto. Having said that, if Michael can last the distance it will be a small victory for him, and Cotto will definately look bad. No doubt a mis-match but it gives Jennings an opportunity to fight at the spiritual home of boxing, and at the same time earn a career high purse, so good luck to him.
... Even if your feeling was right (wich i don't believe at all), don't you think it would be someone else than Jennings who would expose that?
Well this depends. If he looks bad because Jennings looks good; then Jennings has just been underrated and slipped under the radar until now. If anything else, then we can begin to surmise that the Margarito fight - via fair play or foul - might have had a lasting adverse impact on Cotto physically or mentally.
What style does he employ? I see he doesn't have great power based off the record, a Malinaggi type? Counterpuncher, Technician, Slickster?
I more refined Malignaggi type...but yea...that sums it up. There's a clip of a fight of his on youtube that's a ***** to find...but it's one of his earlier fights. Nothing special. Fights off the back foot for the most part, as well as easy to hit...He's going down before 7...
honestly no...I had to go through a string of related videos of a search of "Michael Jennings" before I finally found it. It's footage from someone's camera. Not much...You get to see a round and some of one of his fights...But you get the idea of how he fights. Evalistho got the idea pretty much...uses the jab, stick and move. Not much power. Get's hit quite often for someone with his style. Not the best of footwork. Not the fastest hitter. Just very boring. Nothing stands out about this guy.
