in 2005. Who would have won and where would Pac be if he were on the outside looking in?

They could have possibly had a trilogy and Pac might not be where he's at..due to boxing politics at work.

Who would have Pac fought if the morales trilogy hadn't come to fruition? How would Morales and Marquez's career be?

    Discuss..ye armchair promoters of ESB.:twisted::think

    Morales UD JMM 116-112
    JMM goes back to featherweight
Pac would chase a Barrera rematch since he was the man at 130
    Pac/Morales would of eventually happened

morales wuda won i think mainly because after the defeat to barrera he looked so motivated and looked like he wanted to prove how good he was however id like to think that the fight wouldnt end with a trilogy after morales looked so bad against raheem that he wud either take a break of had taken a few fights to gethimself back to where he was

Always thought that JMM's style would be all wrong for Morales and he'd win by atleast a 8-4 margin on the scorecards. If Morales had problems with Barrera's in-and-out boxing style of the 3rd fight, wait till he got of load of JMM's style which was a quicker version of that.

Morales was a somewhat technically flawed fighter who would often times get too aggressive for his own good. I always thought that JMM could exploit the hell out of those flaws and frustrate Erik to a comfortable unanimous decision.

A prime JMM - Barrera fight would have been the better, more competitive scrap IMO.

Morales could decision JMM. If JMM don't have the "urge" of a rematch with morales, pac-morales will take place, in any way.

As I've mentioned in other threads in regards to Marquez-Morales, I agree with you.

I think its interesting to speculate would have become of Pacquiao's career had as the thread starter suggested, it was Marquez who fought Morales instead of Pacquiao????

My personal belief is that Marquez would have beaten Morales comfortably, and not long afterward would have rematched Pacquiao..........
Assuming that the same rematch that occured between Marquez and Pac happened, I believe that because of the politics of the sport, and because Marquez would have the Morales clear victory under his belt and the recognition that comes with it........
......instead of Pacquiao being granted a bogus gift decision, the decision would have been unanimous and clear in Marquez' favor.

What would have happened to Pacquiao's career had this event occured????
My guess is that MAB would have then worked up the courage to fight Marquez, we already know what happens here.......
......and then because the 2nd fight was so entertaining, likely a third Pacquiao fight follows for Marquez (no reason to believe anything different happens again in a third fight at 130 lbs), so again a UD verdict for Marquez.......

    So what of Pacquiao here?????
After losing to Marquez, certainly the DLH-Pacquiao fight never materializes, and its more than likely Pacquiao never makes any jump passed the lightweight divsion.

Not reality but its fun to speculate none the less.:D

i think its one of those fights were if morales gets going and is thorwing combinations fluently then he can win maybe even with ease but if marquez keeps backing off and counter punchin it could just leave morales frustrated and clueless

I believe EM would win by UD. I don't think that EM-JMM would have gone to a trilogy. Unless it was a classic match.

Remember the turning point of Pac's career was the Barrera fight. After beating Barrera, Pac is somewhat seen as the man to fight with, since most people are in awe of what he did to MAB. They would want to prove if he's the real deal. That being said, EM-PAC would definitely happen. Probably after a Pac-Mab rematch.

I agree although the fight would be a little closer than you said more like 115-113 Marquez.

The highlighted is soooooo inaccurate. It revealed the writer's bias against Pac who has never lost a fight since Morales I.

Morales is a good counterpuncher while Marquez is not as powerful as Pac. Morales wins by UD.
