Supposedly in 95 they were in the process of making Morrison v.s Tyson happen. How do you see that fight playing out? I know the majority of you are going to say Mike demolishes him, but keep in mind that Tyson would have been pretty much just coming off that prison stint, and if I remember correctly McNeeley would be his only warm up fight.

I say it's a more entertaining and competitve fight than people think for 4-5 rounds, but Mike catches him and gets him out before 6.

Morrison was in line to fight Mike after the Moorer fight which was planned for after Holyfield. So Tyson would have had plenty of comeback fights to prepare for Morrison and would have probably put him in the cheap seats. Morrison would have froze and gotten pummeled.

Both murderous punchers, but Tyson had more skills and a granite chin.

Agreed. One thing I find interesting about this fight is that Morrison would actually have a significant height and reach advantage also in this one. Something he didn't have very often when going up against top level opponents. Not that it would get him the win... but it may have made things a little more interesting. :think

Morrison really wasnt a tall fighter though. He didnt use an effective jab or punch with long distance punches. It was more of a tap jab to set up his lefhook. Morrison could punch but I think in close in a war he would quickly get the worst of it.

    Several ways this goes:

    1) Morrison trades bombs with Tyson and gets KO'd around the 5th or 6th round of an awesome fight

    2) Morrison freezes up before the fight like Bruno did and gets smashed in the first 3 rounds.

    3) Morrison comes in like he did vs Foreman and keeps his distance and boxes Tyson, eventually escaping with a close UD while the crowd boos. Tyson post-prison had pretty suspect stamina- if he couldn't destroy his guy early, he was in trouble.

    1 & 2 are much more likely than 3.

Yeah the 3rd option is not very likely but if Tommy had concentrated on keeping that distance and using the jab more than he was known to do, it might have made this fight A LOT more competitive than people think. Morrison was 6'2" I think and Tyson 5'11". Tommy would have had a 5 inch reach advantage I think. Could he have utilized that? :think Wish this fight happened

Morrison got starched by Lennox, Bent and Mercer and wasn't far from being starched by Rudduck and Purrity. Tailor made KO for Tyson here

Except Tyson is much quicker or foot and hand than Old Foreman, and much more skilled

Tommy COULD have outboxed Tyson, but he would need to fight a perfect fight. He made several mistakes in the Foreman fight that George was just too slow to do anything about. Tyson, while slowing way down, was still fast.

I think its more likely he gets sucked into exchanging, and the faster, harder Tyson breaks him early. Morrison absolutely melted when he started to get belted. It's like every time he got stunned, he lost a years worth of acquired skill.

I'd put several hundred on Tyson by kayo early

If Morrison trades he gets stopped in 1 round. If he boxes cautiously he gets stopped when Tyson finally catches up with him, which he would at some point.

Well, they say never hook with a hooker. Morrison had a dynamite hook and solid skills, but was rather fragile.
I think this would be a fairly early blowout for Mike.

How about Tyson vs. Moorer instead of Holyfield in '96 or '97?
