What If Oleg Maskaev Had Even a Decent Chin?

A million years ago (and some change) I wrote about how I thought Maskaev was one of the worst-managed heavyweights in history (maybe that's hyperbole). But, since learned that his amateur record was 108-10, and his handlers thought he was ready for bigger shots at a quicker pace. It explains why he fought a 20-0 fighter in his first fight as a pro and then faced Oliver McCall in his 7th fight. But regardless, the point of this thread is to ask what Maskaev's career would have been like if he had even a halfway decent chin.

The Big 0 had a really nice career buy any standards, going 38-7 (28 KO's), including winning the WBC title. However, those 7 losses all came by way of knockout. His average time of getting knocked out in those fights was 4.7 rounds, indicating that the majority of the knockouts weren't from accruing punishment, but from having a weak chin.

What's crazy about this is that it took David Tua 11 rounds to knock him out, while fellas like Nagy Aquilera knocked him out in 1.

In his 7 knockout losses, Maskaev was in a 1-1-1 draw on the judges' scorecard when he got knocked out by Tua in 11, up wide on the cards against Corey Sanders (Not Corrie) when he was stopped in the 8th.

Again, my point is, what if Maskaev had a halfway decent chin? Decent career as it was, but I feel as his chin fell, so did other multiple big fight opportunities,
