would you have given him credit? remember pac jumped 2 weight classes (fought at 135 once) and had major reach and height disadvantage. Oscar wanted that fight... he made it happen by asking pac to come @ 147. "It's very personal for me." -oscar It was nothing personal, I just came to do my job. - pacquiao
Would Oscar have gotten credit? To be honest, no. Manny was unproven at 147 and it would have been a clear cut case of "smaller man can't hang at higher weight". Oscar would have been looked at as a bully.
It would've been as expected by most as Tyson knocking out Douglas. Nobody would've thought anything positive about it. Which is comical. Also, there was absolutely nothing personal about it for Oscar either. He was hyping the fight. That was pure, straight bull**** when he said that. I remember when he said it too, because I laughed out loud. It was such easily identifiable, pathetic, weak, unbelievable, obviously fake bull****...HAHAHAHAH...personal.
Doubt he would've got much credit because no one knew how much making the weight was going to take out of him and most people thought he'd kill Manny, who was a lightweight at that stage.
stupidest fight ever on OScar's part...it was a lose/lose...if he KO'd Pac people would just say he beat a smaller guy...sort of like Mayweather's win over Marquez
:think pac shouldn't have beaten him that bad. If he made it more competitive he could have gotten much more props.
I was comparing it to how it went down, where Pac was hailed on the night, but has since been given little credit for beating a so-called zombie. It's even been twisted around that Pac cherry picked DLH. He gets minimal respect for that win. If he'd been KTFO no one would've held it against him and he would've been given maximum respect for taking on a challenge so impossible. Oscar would not have got much credit for it though, to answer the thread question, but probably more than he would've gotten from a competitive win. It would depend on whether Pac would still go on to beat the Hatton's and the Cotto's. A crushing win would look more impressive if he did
No credit. Almost everybody predicted this fight as one-sided in favor of ODLH. If he Ko'd Pac, everybody will just say, I told you so.
One of the hardest things for a boxer in his mid 30's and older to do is go down in weight. This is what makes Mosley's win over Margarito so impresive. If De La Hoya ko'd or just beat Pacquiao by decision. It would have been an impresive win.
