Instead of Dela Hoya? would posters here have issues about 1 pound and being weight drained?

The problem is that people have DLH-PAC fight stuck in their minds so anything in regards to cutting weight is automatically weight drained. I dont think 1 pound will make a difference at Cotto's age, hes still young. Just because DLH was weight drained(as they say) does not mean Cotto will do the same.

This fight ROCKS, just enjoy the ride.

I think they're way different. DLH was past his prime and came down much more than 1 pound. Cotto is not cutting much, so I don't think anybody would be complaining.

One thing though - If Pac was fighting Cotto before we saw what happend to DLH and Hatton, I think a lot more people would be saying Cotto is too big and that Pac was going to lose.

Almost everyone would be saying Cotto via KO and that Pacman has no chance.

they will probably say it's a circus fight and roach is crazy *******. and after pac win they will say cotto is overatted, shot, weight drainned was already floor down by margarito etc.,

Hater will do everything they can to discredit pac's victory

All I am saying is that people should not base this fight from DLH-Pac because it is way different scenario...

Roach wouldn't have let it happen. The only reason he allowed Pac to fight ODLH was because he saw the weakness of Oscar ( past his prime and can't pull the trigger anymore.) Cotto doesn't have those weaknesses.

Cotto cutting 1 extra pound at 28 is alot different then 35 year old DLH cutting a full weight class that he hadnt done in 9 years.

The only thing I've argued is that the only reason this fight is taking place below 147, is to drain Cotto.

Im not saying it will happen, but it's the only reason it's at a catch weight.

I dont think so. The reason this fight is happening in a catchweight is that Pacs camp is hoping that Cotto wont blow up too much come fight night and have more of an advantage because they know that Cotto is strong. Fighters usually fight 1 weight class below their normal weight to get an advantage in strenght come fight night to get an edge. So their just trying to even the playing field.

    Hope he doesn't blow up?

I'm sorry but they aren't just going to hope. 1lb is water weight isn't going to stop Cotto from coming in at 158/159 like he normally does. Even if he drains himself too much. He's going to go back to 158/159.

I know fighters fight above the weight class they should fight at because they cut weight.

Floyd is one of those that doesn't do that, and if Manny fought at 147 as well he would be like Floyd.

EDIT - There's nothing to even, they want to fight a less than 100% Cotto.

Pac when he fought at 147 against DLH weighed 1lb more than when he fought Hatton. I don't see how he's wanting to fight a less than 100% Pac.

So your basing that fight in this upcoming fight? What was Pac weight on DLH fight and Hatton fight in the Weigh-In?
