well he chased after big names back then not just pacquiao, after almost a year and a half layoff. he just couldnt get a fight with pac because of the cotto fight, got the berto fight but cancelled, then finally getting floyd. so yeah, youre right with mosley.
no no no, he tried to get pac to fight, offered to fight at a CW and they still turned him down, don't rewrite history
After the ODLH fight, camp Pacquiao said they were targeting the LWW division. I don't know how honest that was, but they did take on Hatton and at the time, everybody understood that, seeing where Manny came from. Nobody expected Roy Jones Jr. to take on Lennox Lewis after he got the title from Ruiz, everybody with half a brain realized that Roy should go back to LHW (not that it did him any good...). Then Pacquiao simply demolished the #1 ranked LWW at the time, Mr. Hypejob himself, Ricky Hatton. So they returned their attention to the WW division. Mosley called him out, he instead signed Cotto. I don't know, seeing how Cotto defeated Mosley, it seems he picked the stronger option. Sure, Cotto is a left-handed fighter, so he was a more fitting target. But anybody who claims signing Cotto over Mosley is cherrypicking is just a troll. There was never a good moment to fight Margarito, seeing as Margarito got demolished and exposed by Mosley only 6 weeks after the ODLH fight. Can you blame Pacquiao for choosing ODLH and not Margarito in the first place? ODLH is definitely the more lucrative option. And in December '08, Antonio Margarito had the aura of an indestructable, huge Welterweight. Can you really blame a fighter, who competed at 130 in March, if he doesn't fight the toughest guy around in December, in his first outing at 147? Mayweather entered the WW division with a fight against Sharmba Mitchell - wow, what a dragon he slayed there. Then he fought Zab Judah, who came fresh off a loss to the legendary Carlos Baldomir - talk about fighting guys who had just gotten their asses kicked. He then had all the time and opportunity to fight Cotto, Margarito, Mosley, Williams but he didn't. If I would critizise Pacquiao's match-making, it would be Clottey, simply because it was clear that it would be a landslide and a stinker and that there was no recognition in it. And now Mosley. This is a no-win situation for Manny. He HAS to knock him out. If he just beats Mosley up, he will still look less convincing than Floyd, because of his style he will take more punches. If he defeats him, even with a knock out, people will rightfully say that Shane is ancient by Welterweight standards. And Mosley has the big right hand. He caught Floyd twice, he will catch Manny, I'm sure of it. And Floyd started to clinch massively when he was hurt and fought cautious for the next round. Manny's instinct when hurt is to trade, which will give Ol' Shane the chance to clip him again. So this fight has NO benefits for Manny, only a whole bag of potential woes. And we all know, if Manny looks bad or loses, Floyd will never fight him. It's just the excuse he needs.
the only name you put on their thats relevant today is BERTO I couldv went w o clottey margo and now mosley (shouldv happened when he was harrassing him and floyd for a fight) but Berto is what i need to see him dominate. JMM he can beat, Bradly he can beat, Berto somebody gonna have to do some soul searching
He'd get the same old excuses and critisim from the same small group of haters that grind everyday. That he cherry picked....looked for easy opponents...avoided True WW's ect. Nothing PAC does will help the PAC haters out with bringing them into reality b/c they are hell bent on discrediting PAC no matter what he accomplishes.
Pacquiao and mayweather are just too damn good... Thats why people always say they cherry pick.. they need to fight eachother!
