What if Pacquaio becomes damaged as a fighter after this fight?

I was looking forward to his campaign at lightweight. What if De La Hoya brutally knocks him out and becomes a damaged fighter and/or ending his career? I just think that would be a damn pity for his career to end because he took an unnecessary fight. Although if he does lose (which I feel is very likely), I hope he can bounce right back.

That's what I have been saying too, Pacquiao took this fight because the money is just WAY too much for him to ignore, way too much for just one fight at least.

If he loses badly then he screws up chances on making bigger and better fights in the future, even people from his own country are complaining about him taking this fight and putting everything on the line for just one fight when there are many other fights to make. A part of it could be that he might be bored with the sport and is considering retirement soon and another part could be actual confidence that he can pull this off.

Honestly? I really think somewhere in his head he thinks he can beat Oscar. I think Roach pumped him so full of ****ing air that he honestly believes he's got the tools to beat him.

As for him potentially being damaged as a fighter, he's only got a few fights left at this point so there's not much to damage. He's been on one of those "3 fights and I'm out" speeches for a while.

It is certainly possible. Oscar hits WAY ****ing harder than anyone he has ever faced. If he gets hit with a shitload of punches and gets vicously knocked out, he may be a bit damaged.

This is the reason why we have this fight in the first place..... and this will be the reason why we might have Hoya Vs Haton after.... It is not about chances... it is about money......

Boxing is a dangerous sport. There's always that chance that a boxer can be damaged in a fight or worse yet can get killed in a fight. This is true for every boxer in every fight. No exemption.

i don't know why you can call someone who fought a fighter "twice already" and beaten him once called running? especially if he is taking on a twice more dangerous of an opponent.

IMO this is a fight that can only hurt DLH and not paq.

if paq gets beat, so what he is fighting a man 3 divisions bigger than he is for money.

it should be obvious early on if paq can cope with the size , if he cannot then roach should pull him out in a corner retirement and let paq fight another day.

There would be no shame in losing for Pacquiao, but I still think it would hurt Pacmans motivation for the future, if he got severely punished. Furthermore I think it is hurtful for him that he has bulked up for this fight, in respect to future bouts, should he be unable to make it competitive. I think this is a cash-in, before a cash-out - unless of course he does win it.

watching the 24/7 sparring sessions, it seem that Pac is dipping to his left, digging a left hook to the ribs and then a right to the head. his sparring partners are attacking him with strong jabs and hooks, and he is doing a good job of avoiding them in sparring. I dont think he can keep it up for 12 rounds, but then again if he brings his power with him, he might have a chance. The guys he is sparring with seem alot faster than Oscar. and Oscar has looked like crap his last few fights.
