would we have heard of Kelly again? or was he really not that good in the first place? or would he have come back and still be a contender later on?
So little can change an entire boxing career. What if Calzaghe had lost to Lacy at that point? On the other hand, what if Tyson had finished Buster when he had him? Impossible to tell, it's only speculation. The thing is: on the verge of losing, Kelly showed tremendous heart and came back to win. If he didn't, he could've picked up any other title except the IBF in my view.
Kelly Pavlik is not a household name.:nut Furthermore, yes, we would have seen Pavlik on HBO again. His style is crowd pleasing.
Agreed, it's hard to call him a 'household name' at any point in his career. But with Arum behind him, his blue-collar appeal, and his very crowd pleasing style and willingness to brawl, he would have continued to fight on HBO.
Taylor vacates his titles and goes on to fight Joe Calzaghe. Abraham is dubbed the top MW fighter but not linear champion. Pavlik fights someone like Castillejo for one Taylor's vacated belts. Abraham/Pavlik happens for the ring title.
Indeed win or lose he is a crowd pleaser, the crowd when bonkers when his face was smashed like a tomato
