When you look at the back pages of the paper and see the money spent on players at Chelsea, or the mega amounts planned by the new owners of Man City do you ever think - If only that dosh was thrown at boxing. Imagine all the top fights in the UK without having to sit up into the early hours, and fantasy fights occuring on a weekly basis. If money was no object what would your ultimate promotion: Top of the bill (World title) ? Main support (World title) ? Support - International 10 rounder ? European title (the best match possible) ? British title (the best match possible) ? Commonwealth title (the best match possible) ?
I sometime wondered whether it would be possible for a big money man to come into the game and make one of the titles truly the one to have - while making all the other ABC's irrelevant.
What if say a billionaire took over the WBU and put enough money into it to make a fantasy fight for the belt in every weight? Would the belt become credible overnight, or simply a cash cow?

"Would the belt become credible overnight, or simply a cash cow? " I suppose fighters make the belts, and all the best fighters would be fighting for it due to the mega cash - so I suppose it would. I'm not sure if it would be recognised by the likes of Ring though... but then again...

if a guy came along and bought the WBA, WBC, WBO and IBF. He then calls purse bids within 60 days for all outstanding mandos. within 60 days of those fights taking place purse bids are called for the WBA champion to face the WBC champion, and the WBO to fight the IBF. within 60 days of those fights taking place purse bids are called for the fight between the winners. while this is going ahead a ranking system is put together. You will only be able to become ranked if you have won your national title. Continent belts such as european will give fighters higher rankings. Build a relationship with these national bodies. winning the IBO or the WBU will mean nothing.
