How would a prime Sergio Martinez do against Floyd Mayweather?

I would've liked to seen Martinez fight Mayweather and see how that fight would go.

    Any thoughts?

See Sergio vs Paul Williams II, only Williams has a much sturdier beard than Floyd so it would be even more highlight reel and even more brutal :deal

That lighting left hand would find Mayweather's untested chin and it would be lights out. There is a reason he fought slow non puncher Canelo instead of Martinez.

I pick Martinez by decision. I see Martinez being too much in the strength department for Floyd. Floyd tries to pot shot what with Martinez keeping his hands low and exposed but Martinez is unimpressed and bombs him out from unconventional angles. Mayweather may go down once or twice but gets on his bike and is able to survive to the final bell.

Yup, the canelo that would murder Martinez 100 put if 100x, all by brutal beat down. Untested chin ? Where's that coming from ? Not a single top fighter from 130 to 154 could test his chin ???

How great do you think he was, you're like mvc x's 100

Prime Martinez was probably a middleweight but if we're speaking about the 154 lb version vs Floyd. Floyd might be able to squeak out a close win. Martinez would have a hard time finding his groove but he also faired pretty well against bigger men so the return fire from Floyd wouldn't be a huge concern should he choose to be extra aggressive vs the smaller man. If I was a betting man I'd place my money on Floyds but it's a toss up fight

If you don't understand how many technical flaws Martinez had, you don't understand boxing. Martinez wouldn't be able to "out-athlete" Mayweather. He'd get picked apart.

hard to predict. For one thing prime for prime would be a 135 floyd vs a 154 Martinez. But in a realistic case, either Floyd gets KD once or tice and loses everything after the forth round or he proves to be too skilled for Martinez and just like he couldnt hang with Cotto he cant hamg with another one of the big boys

How would Canelo murder a Prime Martinez? Not the shot one that fought Cotto for a payday. There is nothing Canelo does better than Martinez.Canelo is slow, has average power, basic Boxing skills. Prime Martinez clowns him.

Martinez begged Floyd to fight him, and Floyd ducked him. Doesn't that tell you what would have happened?

Ali and Jones had tons of technical flaws and they did pretty good for themselves.
"Out athlete" Mayweather is possible, the only physical trait Mayweather has over Martinez is a slight speed advantage but the power advantage for Martinez is huge. Speed bothers speed and Martinez would land, just like Judah and Chop Chop did.

Martinez had sloppy footwork. He'd be getting drilled with lead rights. We're talking about a guy who was splitting rounds with Paul Williams and barely beating Cintron near or in his prime.

We're not really sure how Mayweather would perform at 160 to properly judge this. But based on styles, this is a 50/50 fight.

Mayweather never fought at 160 which was Sergio's late bloomed and short lived, yet very good, prime...

If we are talking about the best Sergio's at 154/147 against the best Floyd's at 154/147, then a wide Floyd UD.
