Just recently re-watched the HBO Gatti vs Ward legendary nights and it got me thinking which fights from Showtime's extensive library would make for a good documentary now that boxing is off the channel? I'm sure great fights like Chico vs Castillo would certainly make it because the quality of fight but I'm also sure there are episodes that would make for great TV for such as Judah vs Tzysu which had a controversial stoppage, but also had an interesting story about a flashy, talented undefeated fighter from New York in Judah vs a rebounding from a loss holdover from the old Soviet amateur system in Tzysu. What story would you most want to see told?
Al Bernstein did the Rafa Marquez Izzy Vazquez wars. . It was top notch boxing. These fights ruined both guys .. Rafael was so banged up he would soon retire , and Izzy lost his eye because of these fights .. Boxing simply doesn't get any better than these fights, would love to see a 2 hour documentary on this if not longer . .These are some of my favorite fights of all time
I had a feeling this series would be the first one mentioned. Definitely at the top my list for sure! HBO had Gatti vs Ward and Showtime had Marquez bs Vazquez
