We know title slipt away from him. There is still doubts about SRR being P4P GOAT.
But welterweight, middleweight and then lightheavyweight championships. There still be a any doubts?

He's the GOAT for more than enough people.

don't think it'd change much to be honest. a lot of people (fair or not) consider him uncrowned LHW champ anyway

Beating maxin would have required him to exhibit more ring iq than he did in the real fight. Stylistically he showed he could beat maxin to the punch and box his socks off.

Now had he beaten maxin and successfully defended against moore before retiring (assuming moore then beats maxim for the vacant belt and still rules for a decade) then he'd likely be the goat from more than just a filmed skillset viewpoint. He'd have achieved more than any other and likely compiled a record better than even that of harry greb.

He's already the best that ever done it for me, no question, but it would of been a great plus to his resume, being a 3 weight undisputed champion is always an impressive title to have, but he already is in my eyes with his win over Angott at 135.

Angott wasn't the undisputed champ although I thought he was the best lw at the time.

SRR manager said if Ray beat Maxim then they were going to go after the The Rock.

Ray response was: "Are you trying to get me killed"?

    Disagree.

Not many people consider Robinson uncrowned LHW champion.

still, there are many that give him credit for a win, often citing the oft used "he only lost to the heat". longhorn's quote says it all

I reckon he would have beaten him if so.

Agreed Robinson at the time was the proven out and out best lightweight in the world who went up and proved himself the best welterweight and middleweight in the world. LHW was a step too far, but under modern conditions he beats Maxim for the title

    INCIDENTLY HE NEARLY

Which is complete irrelevant BS, the smaller man has to move more sp uses more energy and heat effects him more, so in hot conditions suffers more than the bigger man

Having said that Maxim was never the best LHW anyway

His resume looks allot better from doing this imo, I think he beats Burley, but who knows?

The reason I don't rate Robinson #1 All Time is that he'd fight with the wrong stragity that would cost him against lesser oppoents. Had he beaten Joey Maxim. He'd move up in my rankings but unless he defended the championship. I don't think he'd take the #1 spot. However looking the guys he might have defended against. I might have him at #1
