What if Tyson Fury didn't fight Wlad and the latter continued to rule a majority of the heavyweight division? Would the landscape be completely different or would Wlad be toppled sooner or later by another man?

Fury may have fought Wilder earlier if he didn't fight Klitschko.

    Two points here.

Firstly Wlad was going to lose sooner rather than later.

Secondly Fury was ranked around #7 when he got his title shot, so he wasn't the most obvious person to get to him first.

The most likely outcome in this scenario, is a seamless transition to Joshua.

Having said that Wilder had the WBC, so there could have been negotiations on that.
