and instead of retiring, was still fighting today? how would he do in the light middleweight division where he would likely be fighting?

I think he would beat most of them but he really never fully recovered from his shoulder injuries so hard to tell. He was avoided like the plague in the beginning of his career and then sidelined with injuries for the latter part so he really never had a full career and got the fights he wanted.

I don't know, he looked damn good against Mora (the second time), Baldomir, and Piccirillo. I'm watching the fight against Piccirillo and Forrest is really sharp with everything. Great jab, combinations, and a beautiful right hand. I think he would have his shot to beat most of these guys at light middleweight.

He looked pretty average against Quartey. Mora and Pichirello are nothing special, Baldomir is horrible. I dont think he retired before his death did he?

HE still had a couple good fights left in him but was in the twilight days of of being a world beater or top dog, he had injuries that kept kind of inactive... Seemed like he lost a steip but still very good when movtivated(like 2nd Mora) Great win and upset for Mora hu6 Vernon took him lightly.. You could just tell by his prefight comments, that he thought Mroa didnt belong in the ring with him and that je would just have to show up..

If Forrest was still fighting , he wouldnt be albe to beat the young lIons... THe JM Division isnt all that great at the there are still a some quality fighters... I dont think he could beat the top young guna at the top or even an old one like Cotto... But hed still be capable of pulling some tricks out and beating some of the lower top10 guys.... He would probably be like the way Winky is today. Capable of exposing and schooling certain guys but showing his age with others... Him and Winky both had elite boxing skills., Knowing every trick in the book... Great Jabs hardly any weaknesses... Forrest was the better punchr, WInky physically storner, WInky more resilent and better defense(although Vernons wa very oood).. Analyzing there old styles im thinking an old Forrest wouldnt have held up or lasted the distance with PW..... He would be good enough to beat an Overrated Contenter like Vanes Matroysian. .;.. HE was like a professor of boxing skils , but i get the feeling he didnt like boxing as much later on., that he just was looking for good paydays to retire..

Just cause Hokins could do it and old age,, That doesnt mean other boxing profeasors could,, I think Hopkins just loves boxing,, And still has the pasion in the gym like a young fighter,, BHOP has slowed down pbysically but not mentally.. Same with Shane..

    Dont thik Forrest would.

I though Ike edged it out and so did alot other people .. Would have been a hell of a matchup in their piime... Ike was even less active thanForrest and a little more removed from his prime.. makes me think that Ike would have won. in their primes. Styles were the same and they would probably approachh with the same fight plan.. Except Quartey seemed more boxer ,with a less slugging mentality at Jm and didnt overwhelm with his powr as much Like he did at WW.

He and Martinez would've had a very interesting fight.

I certainly don't think Tata is "horrible"...

His best wins were behind him, IMO.

He was certainly never going to top the pair over prime Mosley

By the time of the Mora fights, he was past the point of being able to beat an elite. Hell, by the time of the Quartey fight.

That said, he could have reigned straddling a couple of alphabet organizations in a weak division for a few more years.

Yeah not horrible, a bit overstated but I think Baldomir is a horrible guage as to how prime Forrest was, because he doesnt offer that much in the way of offense. Just a good boxing workout because of his solid chin and fairly weak fundamentals.
