what if the referee when bending down on one knee had just waved the fight off , as all British referees would have, would anybody have complained about and early stoppage ? I don't think so, and if that was the case surely Wilder would have been lauded as almost unbeatable and received rightful praise for again pulling out a fantastic win ,instead Fury showed greater recuperative powers than Larry Holmes and managed somehow to fight back, but I think there could have been a totally different scenario if the ref made a different call,
Not like most British refs would, like most refs would, i thought it was all over, if the ref had just knelt down and waved it off i wouldnt of complained. He looked out cold. Fury would of jumped up and complained but when the ref looked over Fury he looked out cold. But luckily he didnt and Fury went on to win and be robbed.
No a stoppage would have been awful. Fact is that this is world class hw boxing and eventhought the refs job is to make sure booth fighter dont get hurt, they have to give every fighter the chance to get up, even if the knockdown is brutal. The fighters know what they are in for. On c level he should have waved it of but not world level.
I wouldn't be very surprised if the referee had waved it off without even bending down on one knee. For a moment Fury were lying on the floor as an unconscious man...
