what if paulie had lucas' power..... what if chavez jr 's training camps werent in his living room.... what if Wlad had Vitali's chin .... what if the ref, stopped the fight after third KD in 1st round of marquez-pacquiao 1... what if castillo had taken Floyd's '0'........
If Paulie had Lucas Power, he'd fight more like Lucas and wouldn't have ended up as a Two weight World Champion. If Chavez jr gave 100% in training he'd now be an unbeaten two weight World champion at 160 and 168lbs. Again if Wlad had Vitali's chin, he'd be a much less skilled fighter and probably get outboxed by the likes of Byrd. It's the fact he fights with such caution that makes him so unbeatable. If Pac-JMM 1 was over after 1st rd he'd still have lost to Morales 1st fight and Bradley 1st fight but obviously wouldn't have the other 3 JMM fights on his record as no one would have felt there was a need to see that fight again. If Floyd lost the first Castillo fight he would have won the rematch but his popularity now would only be on the level of someone like Tim Bradley.
What if Barry McGuigan had gone straight for the super fights with Fenech or Nelson instead of taking that disastrous tune up with Steve Cruz? What if Erik Morales had gotten a nutrionist early on to manage his diet instead of starving himself half to death to make weight. What if Steve Cunningham had gotten a decent promoter and fought more than once every year?
What if Floyd hadn't ducked Manny. (you saw it coming) What if Manny didn't go to sleep against Marquez. What if boxing was 100% clean. What if boxers fought who they want to fight rather than their managers.
McGuigan would have had two losses although been richer...ultimately he just wasn't Elite level. Morales never starved himself, he just didn't train properly. Morales is a natural 126/130 lb fighter if he bothered to train like a dedicated professional athlete should do. He could make 135 easy even now if he put the training in.
Not my biggest but I always wondered "What if Quintana survived the 1st round in the rematch against Paul Williams?" Would it have played out like the first the rest of the way or would Paul have continued dominating?
That's a good one. Who knows? Maybe it would have been the best Championship Rounds in a heavyweight fight in a long, long time.
