Is there any era in a certain division that is often overlooked that you feel was a lot more competitive, and full of talent than often given credit for? For example: Was Tyson's reign as champion a greater era than given credit for?
Speaking of Tyson, I think the earlier part of his career was vastly underated. Although the fighters of his era may have been a little smaller, most were more technically sound boxers. Tyson being short was at a disadvantage against guys who were tall and moved well. A prime Tyson fighting in todays era, would be unstoppable, because none of the guys can fight inside, and none in my opinion are fast enough to stay away from that version of Tyson. I believe his era had a lot of good boxers, from Biggs, Thomas, Berbick, Tubbs, Spinks, Holmes, Smith, Tucker, Bruno, Ruddock, etc, they all moved and boxed pretty well, and of course some better than others.
I feel the mid to late 90s Lightheavyweights are underappreciated. You had Maske, Rocky, RJJ, Hill, Michalczewski, Toney, and Griffin. All in all a great group of fighters that are underappreciated because the two men left standing when the dust settled failed to fight each other.
