What is a valid excuse for losing?

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Indio-Bandido, Oct 3, 2010.

  1. I posted something the other day about Margarito being distracted during his fight against Mosley and some people didn't agree. I think that being caught trying to cheat is a huge distraction. Margarito must have been thinking about the consequences and implications of having plaster on his wraps. Im not saying he would have won, but he might have finished on his feet. It seems to me that no excuse is valid for a lot of you posters. What then i ask is a valid excuse? Your mother dying?

the only valid excuse for losing a fight is because you wore the wrong socks. Anything else is just bull****.

Of course Margarito was bothered by getting caught with the wraps. That's like getting caught by a cop doing the dirty in the woods or and then trying to continue.

Claiming to have been beat with bricks or steroids (Not style) seems to be the new fav EXCUSE.
A couple top stars have been living off that notion.

They're all valid to a certain extent. Margo was probably troubled by what went on in his dressing room. Mosley was probably troubled by his marital problems. At the end of the day Mosley beat Margo so easily that you have to consider that Mosley would've won either way.

The way I see it, there are pretty much always factors in both corners that make a difference. That's' why rematches are almost always different.

I guess if like you get a phone call in the corner that your family was kidnapped and the bad guys are going to shoot them unless you quit the fight because they bet a lot of money on the other guy.
But even that WILL factor into my calculations when doing head to head ATG fantasy match ups!

The other guy being better on the night.

Real fighters don't need excuses. Losses happen when you're a take-all-comers badass. Look at Robinson.
