Gatekeeper level. Roughly in the Chisora/Takam ballpark Hrgovic struggling with him says more about Hrgovic than it does Zhang. I guarantee soon that promoters will try to match up and coming prospects with Zhang to see how good they are
A slow, old, unfit.. but very heavy handed, huge guy. He's a 10-20 heavyweight, who could be a dangerous fight.. banana skin for plenty of prospects. But the real legit ones would destroy him.
Difference between Zhang and Chisora/Takam is size and power and punch technique. Zhang can KO people ranked highly before he gasses. Takam lacks power and Chisora lacks speed and technique.
He's got great power, a solid chin, elite timing and an underrated defence when he isn't totally gassed.
Decent skills, great pop, southpaw, horrible gas tank, advanced age deteriorating him. He's a 10-20 type guy, managers should keep their prospects away from him, but legit top guys only have to worry about the first 3 rounds before Zhang starts to unravel himself. Too bad he didn't get started earlier.
Apparently Zhang had medical issues during the Forrest fight. I'd like to see Zhang fight someone good next time and see how he does.
Lower end of top 10, if that. An acid test for fringe world level fighters. I'd say just below the likes of Hunter & Parker.
Also keep in mind Zhang is "39" or at least that's the age he keeps using. Though he looks like he's celebrated his 39th birthday about 4 or 5 times by now.
