JCC - Taylor Trinidad - DLH Arguello - Pryor Bowe - Holy Tyson - Douglas (don't talk to me about the 42-1 odds for Tyson, it was a superfight) JCC - Haughen ...and aside from that, fights that are upcoming that you can't sleep at night before. I'm no religious man, but I prayed to God for weeks that I wouldn't die before Hatton - Mayweather in 1997. They're the superfights.
DLH mayweather wasnt a superfight.. It was a super hyped up fight, but didnt deserve the hype that it got. pacquiao - Floyd is the only true superfight today.
It might not have came out how we expected it to but that doesnt change the fact that it was a superfight, highest grossing ppv fight of all time automatically makes it a super fight
A genuine superfight is one that's hype reaches the most obscure people that aren't even fans, so not many fall in this category. From a boxing fan's perspective, probably a really good matchup between 2 elite that's been brewing for a (short) while.
I agree it was a superfight, but the flaw in your argument (and like I said, I agree with you) is you said it was a superfight by virtue of PPV numbers. Superfights are usually superfights before the fight, not after the PPV and closed circuit numbers have come in. See Hagler - Hearns as a prime example.
Let's be honest the only super fights available RIGHT NOW are Mayweather v Pacquiao and Vitali v Wlad Both aren't happening
Superfight: 1. Both fighters must have drawing power. 2. Both fighters must be established future HOFs in the same peer group. 3. Both fighters must have a strong momentum leading to the fight. 2 out of 3 and you have a super fight.
2 of the very best fighters in that division both have got to be in their primes. Leonard - Duran Hearns - Hagler Ali - Frazier Oscar De Le Hoya vs Felix Trinidad was considered a super fight shame it was a crap List could go on and on
