There is a lot of debate as to when Holy was in and out of his prime, but the consensus seems to believe his biggest and most career defining win was against Mike Tyson. So was Evander really better post Bowe 1, where he became more of a thinking fighter or was Mike Tyson really that bad in his comeback and the win is way overated? Tyson is often criticised for losing to a supposed shot Holyfield, but Holyfield is put on a plateau for beating Tyson who proved he really wasnt the fighter he was in the past.

    What is Evanders biggest win?

    Buster Douglas
    George Foreman
    Larry Holmes
    Riddick Bowe
    Mike Tyson
    Michael Moorer

He had no business beating Bowe. The Tyson wins come after that.

    Tyson 1
    Bowe 2
    The rest

I think the Tyson he beat is better than the Bowe he beat and a great better fighter

Ranked in terms of H2H quality of opponent when Holy beat them:

    Bowe II

    Tyson I

    Old Foreman

  5. Bowe, Foreman, Lennox Lewis in their second fight, Bert Cooper. Beating Tyson proved nothing besides if you didnt fear Tyson you could beat him.

That's how I see it. Bowe II wasn't an absolute shocker, because Holyfield had already gone 12 rounds with him in defeat. But a resurgent once beaten Tyson was expected to destroy a four years older Evander, who instead dominated him.

I was going to add him to the list. Super Brian is an olympic medalist.

Yes, but wasnt Tyson based more on hype than reality? Bowe was a big fighting machine who seemed to get more devastating and confident post Holy 1 even though he was knocking down tomato cans.

The Qawi win is underrated. That was one of the most impressive things i've seen from a young fighter against an underrated dog like Qawi, who always came to fight.

In terms of widespread acclaim, the biggest win was Tyson 1.

Bowe 2 may well have been the best quality opponent.

Tyson 2 was the biggest in financial terms. Tyson may have been physically better than anyone then - and mentally worse !

Dokes in '89 was possibly better than anyone he ever fought after. Dokes was SERIOUS business for that fight.

Old George was shot to ****. He couldn't even rise from a chair and fought mostly weak opposition during his comeback (not that I think he beat any great HW ever)

I don't consider Evander's second fight against Bowe as a win , it was just a competitive distance fight which should not have gone either way because "it could have gone either way"

Moorer's "win" over Holyfield was due to Evander's heart failure and was still not a real win.
Evander's win over Moorer in the rematch is important but not like stopping Tyson.

So I think Holyfield's biggest win is Tyson .

I will rank his top HW wins :
    Mike Tyson
    Michael Moorer
    James Douglas

Maybe it's the time to repeat the question of why did Tyson forget his perpetual elbows against the incoming head ?
