What is everybody's fave documentary/film on boxing?

Unforgivable Blackness is by far my favorite.

I got into boxing a little more than 3 years ago by watching this documentary. I think I found it by reading on Ali's Wikipedia that Johnson was his favorite boxer. Ever since then I have a hunger for boxing information that must be satisfied every single day.

 

Yep, Not the HBO one though.

 

The one about the Billy Collins Jnr-luis resto fight think it was called assault in the ring was one of the best for me - and also one of the most moving and tortured things I've ever seen period.

I also thought Unforgivable Blackness was absolutely brilliant aswell

One of my all time favourite movies is On The Waterfront too which is all about an ex pug aswell - that is a great movie

 

Miami Beach, Florida (local television station)

60-minute segment on the Liston-Clay fight, before the fight itself.
Interviews with school kids and local residents on the upcoming fight.
As well, as interviews with all the New York tourists who were down there for
vacation.
Great stuff.
All honest views.

 

To be honest, I thought the doc was a piece of ****. Only thing nice about it was the cinematography, and the archival footage.



I guess thats what you get when you make a documentary about something controversial by only looking at one side of it. Its about one mans bitterness over somebody else who quite frankly, moved on years ago.


The documentary really makes me feel bad for Joe Frazier. Not because of some "injustice" 40 years ago. But because he still really cares.


He is one of my favorite boxers in history, but his obsession with getting back at Ali is really sad. And he further cements his title as "The Bad Guy" in the story of Muhammad Ali by never letting it go.


The movie Ali must have been even worse though. Ugh

 

wow is this on DVD or something? Is there any way I can find it?

 

Not a doc or a film, but deserves a mention because an interview with him is more watchable than any of the documentarys or films..
