Did the Ortiz fight completly change the way you feel about him or did it validate your view ?

it validated my view that he is a turd sandwich with no class, and reinforced my perception of him as a purely utilitarian fighter in method and intent.

It didn't change my view of him. We've already seen him suckerpunch Gatti and Mosley. The guy is one ruthless, classless SOB. I thought he looked excellent for 4 rounds vs Ortiz though.

I could not have said it better than just that. I never heard the ref say"Fight or Box" and then the way he acted in the post fight interview, REALLY? As you stated he is definatly "classless"

He's one of the best fighters of his era. I mean, I think he's among the top 2 or 3 of the last 10 years.

Most of his fights are boring, and meaningless to me. And boxing is just a bit silly these days, with no respect for true world championships and building a reputation in a weight class. (I don't even know what title Mayweather holds !). Can't blame Mayweather for all that, but he's among it.

He doesn't make much impact on an all-time level, IMO. Of course, if he fights Pacquiao this year and completely schools him he will merit being mentioned alongside some of the modern greats. But that fight is fast becoming less relevant, and it simply won't happen IMO.

More of the same from Floyd Mayweather. He was completely in control of the fight, and as effecient as usual.

As much as I don't like the guy, he's one of the best of my lifetime.

Still think he's a man who's about to blow. Ego's like that never last. When he has no other choice but to drop out of the sport, you'll see.

Great fighter, a real douche of a person. I dont think what he did to Ortiz was any worse than what Ortiz did to him, and Ortiz was the one who initiated it, and then tried to hug it out three times. Bad move.

Nothing at all wrong with what he did to Ortiz, the likes of Dempsey have been glorified for similar things

The KO itself, I didn't like it, I think he should have held back and in all honesty I think it ruined what looked like being a very good performance. I think afterwards with the booing and the questions he regretted it and that's why he said 'he can have a rematch'. In the heat of the moment he would have thought 'you want to butt me and then touch gloves 10 times, you're going to cop it now son'. You also have to remember a boxer's learnt instinct is to hit a target. The first punch was a sucker punch (after the ref said box on) and it didn't put Ortiz down, the second punch was not a sucker punch Ortiz should have defended himself after the first but he looked to the ref. And that's an overlooked point Ortiz had a mental meltdown and that's why he pulled out a Golota moment and then kissing and hugging his opponent while looking to touch gloves 3 times. I think if it lasted longer Ortiz would foul out or quit. Like his trainer Garcia said 'he can't take being hit' and that's what that was all about at the end

Mayweather has good and bad parts to his persona like everyone. Massive ego, insecure, arrogant, insecure, a temper, emotional, terrible debating skills, has a problem with logic generally. Socially though he's pretty affable, I know a few people who've met him and they all had good things to say, so allot of the bad guy character, it's part acting part ghetto, part trying to impress fiddy. Anyone remember when Floyd was the good little innocent boy at 130-135? Go back and watch his interviews after the Manfredy fight, very very different in character

I don't have a problem with him having a bust up with Merchant, they've hated each other for years, but he should have given an interview for the fans

As for the performance, technically very good, but he is slowing and his reflexs fading a little

    validated my view .
Floyd is a good businessman and publicist but it should not effect his ranking as a fighter which means that P4P all time he will most probably never make d top 80 , and he is definitely below Marquez even 4 2day .
Regardless of Marquez' future outcome vs Pac (Marquez is really old now , especially 4 his weight) , Marquez already fought a prime Pac , even twice , unlike d bigger Floyd who looks 4 a reason 2 avoid d tough fights .
Mayweather ducked Cotto , Williams & Tszyu .
He proved his "greatness" and looked good only vs smaller / older / both or sometimes just those whom were already exposed/destroyed/both by others .
Corralles was never good , even in his "win" over Castillo he cheated .
Judah was previously exposed by Tszyu , but is a top 4 win 4 Floyd 4 sure , but if he is a win at all , I need 2 watch d fite ..
DLH a nice outcome , regardless if a win or not , lets just call it a top 4 outcome / performance .
Hatton is another 1 of Floyd's greatest moments , a dirty fighter vs a dirty fighter is ok , but what does take away from it is Cortez .
Currently I don't even rank him in d top 100 P4P of all time .

Prime Larry Merchant would have kicked his ass.
