Before DLH no one was talking about weight drain. For every DLH that steps into the ring with needle marks on their arms there are 10 demolitions of smaller fighters who have to come up in weight to fight a much larger man. Weight drain is the exception to the rule that is just in the public mind at this present moment it time because of what happened in one fight. Most of the time the odds are against the smaller man regardless.

agreed, but you could still argue that a catchweight under 147 is still unfair to pac and jmm b/c of the weights they have come up from (jmm especially)

having said that i almost think that pac should fight a ww at ww just to shut everyone up...he loses, he loses going out on his shield like a warrior in a fight everyone knew he took a big risk in.....BUT...if he wins, he wins in a fight everyone knew he took a big risk in and the reward is that much greater...just a thought

Pac has already fought at 147. Or at least at the WW limit.

As per Marquez, not much fair about that situation at all.

This is the point a lot of posters, especially *******s, seem to be missing.

Pac is a great fighter no doubt, but fighting and beating Cotto at 147 would be huge. No room for criticism.

Even a loss in a competetive fight here would not tarnish Pac's legacy in the same way Duran's loss over Hagler had no negetive effect on his legacy.

:good yep...and in a wierd way, pac would probably gain more in losing at ww than those guys would gain for beating him at ww...i'm sure i'll catch **** for this but i'm not a ******* at all. i respect the hell out of him but i'm not one of his blind devotees on here.

Cotto said he is comfortable with 145 lbs. His admission means we must all agree.

The catchweight is valid because Manny is at a disadvantage. To level the playing field, Miguel should be forced to train extra harder for this fight. It's not unreasonable to give Cotto an extra challenge if Pacquiao is willing to fight well above his maximum weight class.

You don't think that a 160 pound fighter facing a 148 pound fighter on fight night is fair?

In paqcuiaos case, if he wants the 147 pound title then he can't ask for fair. he has to be willing to take the chance and face the adversity and fight a 147 pound fighter.

If he just wants a mega fight for bragging rights with no title then he can talk about making the fight fair.

The guy above me put it perfectly: If Manny wants a WW title then he has to fight like that. That's the way it is. If he just wants a mega catchweight money grab fight then things are different.

when has it ever been "fair" when a smaller fighters moved up in weight to fight biggers ones? :huh

Havent your parents ever told you life isnt fair? Or are you a rich kid who lives in a bubble :rofl

The only way to equalize the size advantage is with skills and heart. Like how mayweather did against delahoya. You see, his fight wasnt "fair" but he still won. Pacman made his fight against delahoya "fair" by turning him into a zombie :rofl

see the differnce of how they handled the situation?and im a big pac fan, and a big mayweather critic :hi:
