How he's not on a set 2 fights per year schedule like most elite fighters.

Lance_Uppercut does it ever get old with you?........You know the Floyd bashing? I been on and off this forum since 2007 and all you seem to do is hate on Floyd or respond to his lame ass fans, I mean it has to get old after awhile right?

Bein' straight up, I think it was the $$. When he fought Oscar he got a hell-a sight more than he'd ever had before. AND even more in his appearances since.

I can't say I blame him though. If I suddenly made like what would be 5 years of my pay, I'd be like "**** it" for a while...:think:yep

IMO, it's why a lot of the top fighters once they reach the top start fighting so infrequently.

This thread is about his shortcomings. Anyone with a straight head can see his family life growing up wasn't the best for his mental well being. Don't see why you are taking it personal.

you right about that. If I just got paid 25 million dollars and I didn't get paid anywhere near that amount before, I'd want to go on vacation.
If you ask most people, what would you do if you won the lottery. Toward the top of the list would be go on vacation asap, but that just goes along with his lack of ambition.

He had very strong ambition when he was younger though

I really wish he'd be more active as well. Hell, fighting twice a year would be nice :D.

And the thing about that is, with that schedule, some fights, while maybe the most appealing to fans, would be more accepting if he fought with regularity.

HIs fight w/ Ortiz was bull****. I know he was the best available, but that's hardly a ringing endorsement for a challenger of a top fighter. The K bros have beaten just about all HW's available. Would the best available HW necessary be a good opponent just because they are what's left? I don't think so.

So, that said, had Floyd fought regularly, his fight w/ Otiz would be much easier to stomach, since we get a floyd fight almost once a year and a half, on average.

If you are allowed ONE meal every two days, you make that meal count. You don't ask for a bologna sammich (that's Ortiz :D )

LOL at me taking it personal, that's funny. Nah I was just legitimately asking do you get tired of the same old routine that you do each time you log on to ESB.

The fallacy is that all the discussions are the same just because the fighters are. They aren't. But I hear what you're saying. Point taken. :thumbsup

His biggest shortcoming is he doesn't act like a fighter anymore, he acts like a businessman. He's not fighting for legacy or bragging rights, just paydays. As a fighter he has that same kind of mentality in the ring (play it safe, do enough to win) although he's been more aggressive in his last two fights which is a positive change.

For me, ambition. He doesn't try to have the best resume he possibly can, which is a waste of his talents and skills.
