What is Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s biggest shortcoming?

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Slothrop, Jan 2, 2012.

  1. I went for balls but I would still say it's too general a statement. Up to fights and in the ring the guy shows a lot of mental strength, heart and balls. I don't care what anyone says tbh, it's fact for me.
However when it comes to signing fights and picking fights he just doesn't seem to have the bottle to take them. It's frustrating because I don't think he'd be scared of any of them once in the ring. Unless Margarito had brick loaded gloves off course.

Just wondering, if when Floyd was younger (say early 20's), he had imagined fighting 'til he was around 30, maybe even goin' as high as 154 to beat Oscar De La Hoya for a WBC belt? :think

I remember reading Floyd had his sights on Oscar from jump street. Can't even remember now, but an article about him bein' on the same plane with Oscar and Sugar Ray Leonard, and them talkin' to him like the kid that he was and he'd known right then and there it was gonna come down to fighting Oscar.

Add that with the $$ we'd talked about, in ways it's understandable why his "drive" fell off a bit.

Dude is 34 goin 35 these days. :p

(trust, I know I ain't sayin' **** you don't already know, just talkin' :good)

No balls and no ambition. Wrong sport to be in if you lack either to be honest. You are never judged on what you make in this artificial money market but who you fight, how you fight and sometimes......where you fight.

If I even knew where to start, I'd try to find it. It would be in the mountain of stuff leading into the Oscar PBF fight.

He talked about how he was sittin' in a seat behind Oscar and Leonard, and Oscar was tellin' him "how **** is", know what I mean.

I just wonder, if in Floyd's mind, gettin' to and beating Oscar (not to mention the $$$ he came into) wasn't Floyd's ultimate goal he had set for himself in boxing. After he'd reached that is when the breaks and **** started coming.

He fake retired and allowed Pac to steal his glory by fighting and defeating what should have been Floyd's welterweight opponents. The Fighter of the Decade award should have been Floyd's had he kept fighting the fights people wanted to see. Instead, he watched from his sofa a lightweight climb up in weight to defeat those welterweights he could have fought. He is so bitter at Pac now he'd do anything to ruin his name.
