What is Floyd Patterson's best win?

I gotta go with the Archie Moore fight. Archie had beaten everyone he fought - and he fought lots - in the heavyweight division except Marciano, held on to the light-heavy title for four more years after losing to Patterson, and only lost one fight between the Patterson fight and his bout with young Cassius Clay. Archie was a force to be reckoned with and the fact that Floyd beat him fairly easily is pretty remarkable.

2) Cooper -'Enery-He has faster hands than Ali

3) Moore - The greatest opponent he ever defeated

4) Machen - Dominates over 12 rounds against a contender he supposedly ducked while champion

5) Chuvalo - A rugged and resourceful performance

6) London

7) Bonavena - Still a top heavyweight in 1972

8) McNeeley

9) Powell - Floyd could also trash the big athletic guys

10)Daniels - Floyd shut out the best version of Daniels who ever competed. (Terry was 24-2-1 at the time.)

As mentioned the second fight with Ingo, made history by becoming the first two time heavyweight champ.

 

I love Patterson and am a fan of his plus he seemed like such a nice guy. Who could dislike or hate him? I don't think that's humanly possible.Yep second Ingo fight for me too. I haven't seen too much of Patterson and have barely seen his fights from the 70's but boy would it be nice if I got his career set. I'll see his fights with Ellis & Quarry because their are those who feel he won them and I want to see if I agree with that. I won't watch them anytime soon because I still have fights I'm watching and some I'm rewatching. I even watch them in order lol. I'm such a boxing addict....but that's a good thing!

Moore had basicaly cleaned out the heavyweight division, and it was assumed that he would be the next champion (when Marciano retired) without any complications.

Patterson was a 20 year old kid, thrown in with this guy.

 

The first Jackson fight; it made Patterson.

 

Yep. That's what i been saying. This was also the best he has ever looked on film, bar none.

 

I'm a great fan of Patterson too, always have been...he was a great role model as a man, not just a boxer or an athlete...and I think he won both times against Quarry as well as being robbed vs Ellis. He never bitched about those fights however..just congratulated both men afterwards like a man.

 

It was the slowest and worst I ever saw Moore fight on film besides his '62 fiasco with Clay........

I would say the 2nd Ingo fight, first man to regain the heavyweight title at that point, very impressive!

The only time he really talked trash was before fighting Ali the first time when he said the black muslims were a menace. Despite that, he kept being humble throughout his career and he inspired me to become the more humble person that I am today. He also fought Liston when he probably knew he would take a beating which toke balls. RIP Floyd Patterson.

 

I wasn't talking about moore. I was talking about patterson. It is the best i have ever seen floyd look on film. I agree archie looked off that night, but a lot of it had to do with him underestimating floyd.
