Johnson wasn't champion from beating Griffin, Moore or Pineda.....was he?

Tarver wasn't champion from beating Muriqi or Woods.....was he?

I considered Tarver the champ...but I see your point the division is somewhat muddled.

Hopkins lost to Taylor (but not really), Taylor lost to Pavlik, and now Pavlik is champ.

 

His exposure happened outside of his division...and he doesn't lose his status until it happens at MW, unless Hops returns to MW which isn't going to happen.

 

Calzaghe ain't lineal at 175. He is the Ring Champion, however.

Anyway, why is the OP suprised? The American crop of Heavyweights is garbage, if Arreola is what we have to look forward to then that's sad.

 

All of the large american atheletes that could make great HW's all play football or basketball , there is much more money it, its a bigger sport for youth and you get much more recognition .... I mean, ESPN is like the biggest and most advanced sports network in the world, but they will barely play a highlight of boxing during sportscenter....

Boxing is just not huge anymore in the States, with Hip-Hop culture thriving, everyone wants to just be a Basketball player.

What do large athletes do in Eastern Europe? they Box, or they weight-lift


If i was going to open a boxing gym, I would go to Samoa I bet I could pump out some HW champs there. The Tua generation will be coming of age soon
