Commonplace for a loser in a fight to be suspended X days automatically, 30 to 90. I think some places even do it for the winner, hence only a couple weeks? I'm sure it's that or just a fugazi. I know NYSAC also is under high stress and profile regarding health standards for combat sports in the state the last year or two.
State of New York is all hardcore with health and safety for combat sports right now. Big controversy and UFC threatened to not do any more shows in the state, etc. They require expensive insurance so it makes the shows more costly for the financier/promoter... The Magomed suit and perhaps another case/factor or two, I forget, led to it.
What I would like to know is why this? Dirrell is indefinitely suspended by NYSAC http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/291903
Yeah, whenever a fighter is concussed ina fight, its an automatic suspension for a given time. I'm not sure if that also extends to being dropped in a fight
See what canelo did!! We know what peeps immediately thought here LOL This will clear it up: Just routine, needs medical clearance for his next fight. Looks worse than it actually is. Nothing to see here folks.
Let's hope this isn't the beginning of a slippery slope to knockdowns requiring mandatory 5 min time outs mid-fight in order to be assessed by a doctor though eh.
I'm guessing he will HAVE to provide medical support for that ban to be lifted, whereas time-stamped ones simply expire without further investigation. There must have been some irregularities which showed up in post-fight examinations...
Jarrell Miller got the same http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/498837 Same goes for his last 3 opponents, either 'suspended by New York State Athletic Commission indefinitely suspended by New York State Athletic Commission until 2018-05-28' Or 'suspended by New York State Athletic Commission indefinitely' http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/238766 http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/309799 http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/621653 What they share in common? All fought in New York for their last fights
