Are they on full tilt or what? They can't make GGG-Sergio but they can make Sergio-Cotto? They can't move things around to get Geale but put Andy Lee out there for another GGG scalping? The Manny-Bradley undercard is trash as well. GGG is basically their biggest star right now, and they are hamstringing him. It's sickening.
Or showcasing him as Martinez gets a big payday(s) at the end of his career. Geale appears to be lining up behind Sturm. But I sort of see your point.
And where is Sturm in all of this? He's had a bit of a resurgence here recently so why can't HBO get him instead of Lee? Sturm don't want none either?
Sturm never did want any. Besides, he has a sweet tv deal for himself over in Germany. HBO want Golovkin to fight in the U.S. and Sturm isn't traveling over here again.
HBO can't make Sergio defend his title and the RING won't enforce a defense since they can't (don't) strip. Martinez figures he needs to get paid at least once before retiring, which is what would happen the same night he gets battered by GGG. Geale just pussed out and Felix wouldn't fight GGG even if the fight was in Germany, so GGG is stuck fighting has been middles who will man up. Sucks
:good sturm never had any interest in anything except being a rich, paper champion he only came over here because he won the Oscar de la hoya sweepstakes it was probably the biggest gift international profile a fighter has ever had, but sturm was on the first plane back to Germany once it was over sturm is a cancer on the sport
what a colossal waste of time and production costs...to sit around and watch the 22nd ranked (and thats a generous rating) fight this guy. so much for the last fight being a "stay busy" fight.... i dont know how anyone can be excited about this. most people want their favorite fighter to be tested with a challenge at least once in a while, now it just seems hes content with being a big bully. what a waste of a paper title
HBO isnt making the Cotto-Martinez fight. Top Rank is. HBO PPV is not the same as regular HBO... any fight can be a PPV fight if a promoter wants to put down the required money. Proksa-Mora could have been a HBO PPV fight if some promoter went insane and had wanted to pay HBO the production costs for a PPV event.
I guess Golovkin will have to do what Marvin Hagler did when he had trouble getting fights....................................just keep on fighting..............
No one at HBO consulted with Daniel Geale when they filled out their 2014 fight schedule. The nerve!:rofl
Erm.... You seem to be forgetting the fairly accepted opinion that Sturm won the DLH fight but was robbed to protect the DLH Hopkins bout.
fair call but don't you think it's ironic that a fighter who never wanted to face the best fighters at MW, never did face the best fighters at MW, but made a lot of money being 'anonymous internationally' so he could get rich at home, lost a fight that he only took for the $$$ against a fighter who was never a MW?
