What is it Marquez does to Pac?

I think the difference is simply speed to tell you the truth. Barrera and Marquez both have similar styles, but the difference is that JMM can actually keep up with Pacquiao in both foot and handspeed because he's prety damn quick himself. Barrera can offset some things that Manny can do, but he's never been quick enough to pull the trigger and capitalize on Pac's many mistakes. That's why Marquez can outbox him at times and MAB can't... trying to outbox a man who's that much faster than you is almost impossible to do.

 

JMM is a master of counterpunching and the ability to time his punches perfectly. JMM just can't quite handle Pac's swarming power and overall aggressiveness.

 

JMM is a natural counter-puncher and has a stronger right hand.

To beat a high caliber southpaw one needs a solid right hand, Barrera doesn't have that nor the same caliber of counter punching skill. Barrera depends on his left hook for real damage but it is upset by Pacquiao's southpaw stance.

Morales also has a right hand and you know the story in their first encounter.

 

Both Marquez and Morales were faster and more skilled than MAB. (I didn't say better, so MAB fans don't start throwing rocks at me please.)

 

He's technically better, can keep up with his speed and has a good right hand.

So more a less what everybody else has said.

 

marquez is a better counterpuncher. barrera equiped himself better in the 2nd fight with pac using the same tactics as marquez. if marquez fought the way barrera and morales did against pac he would have got kod.

 

MAster counter punching and godly punch placements is how marquez dissects pacman's primitive style..

 

simply the right hand.. that's marquez's biggest shot IMO. incidentally, in boxing books, you beat a southpaw with a right hand (orthodox)

 

if pac fought like marquez it would be a bore fest. but i gues marquez got knocked down 4 times by a primitive fighter.

 

That's the thing though my friend. Pacman CANT fight like Marquez even in his wildest wet dream... R u calling Marquez' style boring??? :-( U see that's how i know that you're not a purist...

To me Marquez is about 5 times more exciting than Pacman and ive always felt this way...

 

Noone has really broken this down right yet so i will do it for you.

Barrera and JMM have very different styles. JMM is your consumate outside counterpuncher while Barrera is a boxer-puncher. That means that when PAc lunges in at his opponent Barrera is right there to be hit. His first reaction when he sees Pac enter his range is not to defend and then counter but to go on the offensive. Marquez on the other hand will keep his distance, let Pac lead and open himself up, defend, and then counter.

Its a totally different style and it doesn't mean that Marquez is a better technical fighter than MAB.

On top of that, if you look at MAB's, Pac's and JMM's money punches and defensive liabilities its easy to understand why Pac beats MAB easily but is troubled by JMM even though MAB would beat JMM, which he showed when he almost beat JMM even though he was shot.

MAB has a great left hand. His left hook is GREAT and his jab is also amazing. His right hand is good but not as much as his left. Against a southpaw the quality of Pac the jab and left hook are often ineffective. However as we saw against Juan Diaz, JMM's defense against the left hook and even the jab is not that amazing. He sometimes drops his right hand forward when someone loads up of the left hook and gets caught and he can be outjabbed.

JMM's money punch is the right hand and the uppercuts, although he does hve a good left hook and jab its not as good as those other punches. Against a guy like Barrera who does not lunge in those are both very hard punches to land because MAB doesn't just jump into a counterpunchers range. He gradually cuts the ring off. By the time he is in range he is already throwing a variety of accurate punches that are hard to pick off and counterpunch. However against Pac, the right hand and uppercuts work well cause Pac's style gets him into range more recklessly than MAB.

So STYLES MAKE FIGHTS. Stylewise Pac beats Barrera who beats Marquez who beats Pac. The reason Pac walked through MAB easily and JMM only managed to lose 2 close fights against Pac is that he is better than both of them.

 

marquez more exciting than pac:huh pac is the most exciting fighter of this era. look how pac fought agains delahoya. anything marquez can do pac can do better. pac chooses to be agressive, he likes to fight.

 

Speed and the fact that Marquez is better at seeing things and countering. IMO Marquez is far Superior in the countering department
