Because this country only cares about races with lighter skin tones. Most cubans are darker so nobody in the USA cares about them. It is all about the Mexicans and Puerto Ricans now who are inferior fighters by the way.

Actually most Cubans have lighter skin tones.

Lot not the ones who box. The ones with lighter skin tones do get accepted. The ones with darker skin tones who box don't get accepted.

I've never thought I'd say this but Cubans can't get fjghts because most are boring and runners, to me there's a difference between a counter puncher who's always in range but good enough to make you miss in front of your face and a runner who spends 75% of the fight out of range backing away. Lara/Rigo are decent to good fighters but don't nobody wanna see that ****, them guys make Mayweather-Baldomir look like Hagler-Hearns

Damn shame really some of the best boxers in the sport are being frozen out. They are considered boring and runners when in reality they handing out boxing lessons.

Not great fallowing so huge risk "little" money.
Casuals and many so called hard core fans would rather see Rios (c level skills) than great boxers like Rigo, sad but true.

I agree slightly with Rigo I have a certain level of respect because he beat my boy Donaire, Lara imo loses to Alvarez as far as style though there boring again there's a difference between playing defense and running to me. Playing defense I'm always in range just elusive and skilled enough to not get hit, running which is what I feel they do I spending the whole fight halfway across the ring from your opponent backing up, no beuno for me.

They don't speak english. Even though they speak spanish, mexicans don't want to pay to see them either because they have their own countrymen to cheer on. Cubans don't buy PPV. There also isn't enough of them in the US to count for anything. I appreciate their skills, but these guys need to learn how to build a bit of a persona and speak english to be able to relate to the biggest markets. (By build persona I mean play a role like Floyd did as "the bad guy")

I love the Cuban style but rockem sockem sells. If you don't have a style that pleases the masses you need a personality that can be sold. Point is that these guys are not mArketable, it would be helpful if they learned english and tried to connect with fans. Kbros don't sell in N America because their styles are ones only a mother could love and the personality to match. GGG has an exciting style in the ring, is learning english and has a good personity. He will get the big money fights far sooner than the likes of Lara

Its impossible to look good against these guys

Vitali beat the living hell out of Gomez, who was 6 feet 4 inches tall, former world champion, had over 300 amateur fights for Cuba. Gomez had his chance, but Vitali destroyed him...........Vitali also destroyed Solis with a right hook to the temple in the very first round.

They don't have a high enough profile in the states. When a local fighter builds his resume in the states he gets popular and is bankable by the time he's as good as them. They got popular somewhere else and they left their crowd behind. Now they have to build a new crowd before it's profitable for anyone to fight them. If they have a couple of exciting fights on HBO or Showtime, then another popular fighter will want to fight them for a lot of money. It's about their ability to draw viewers and sell tickets, not their ability to fight.

However, if I were them, and I'm not, I'd go about making myself unavoidable. Guys whine that none of the top fighters want to fight them and they can't make any money; so fight two or three contenders instead. Clean out the whole division. Wrack up 50 KOs against low level opposition and make some buzz for yourself. Old school fighters fought every weekend until they got their title shot, but these Cubans are just resting on their laurels waiting for a title shot to be handed to them. Fight four or five times a year and get your name out there. Have your name constantly on people's lips.

Rigo is the only one being black-listed. Lara will get fights cause he challenges people in the media. Rigo says and does nothing and it boring to watch. He needs to be more aggressive if he wants the big fights. Now, Rigo is a talent, but what MExican or PR wants to fork out cash to watch that....

Not only Rigo. Gamboa got fired after being ignored by Top Rank. He don't get a fight since ages, and one of the components for not getting fights is just that he is feared. Luis Ortiz (20-0), the heavyweight, is the top ranked in the WBA, but nobody wants a piece of him ...Other not that well known but undefeated fighters like Consuegra(15-0), Yunieski Gonzalez(13-0), Robert Alfonso(3-0), Alexei Collado (18-0), Inocente Fiz(16-0), Sullivan Barrera (10-0 )..., and even some newbies, with no fights like Idel Torrientes, are already on the black list ...
