Dropping Holyfield was insane. Perfect shot. Not many can claim they dropped Evander. Even when he was fighting more recently, no one dropped him. Ruiz dropped him after Lennox Lewis could not, in 2 fights. I think his whole career was a defining moment. I would like to see a statistic of how many boxers in general, not just heavyweight, who came back to win a title and beat legitimate contenders along the way. Shame some fighters who had the tools didn't have the heart and dedication of Ruiz. Ruiz ALWAYS came in good shape and was motivated. Dude didn't duck a soul either. The only people he didn't get to fight was more or less due to him being with King.
becoming the first Latino HW titlelist, though I'll always remember him for getting KTFO'd by Tua in 20 seconds (no offense to Ruiz)
I also remember his "gift" decision over Golota. **** Ruiz, one of the worst HW champions of all time. People like to complain about Wlads clinching, well I suggest they go watch or rewatch some of Ruizs fights, thats all he does!
His career defining moment, was betting his house that he would beat Jones Jr, then losing badly, lol.
His win over Jimmy Thunder was when everyone stood up and took notice, "maybe this kid is for real", was a often heard about Ruiz at that time.
