I remember the fallout very clearly. It all came down to Wilder not wanting to go through with the fight because he was **** scared of getting KOed by Povetkin in Russia. He was fine fighting drugs cheat Ortiz twice in his home country, giving drugs cheat Stiverne another shot and drafting in drugs cheat Arreola at the last minute. So obviously the whole meldonium thing wasn't the real reason. But it makes a nice get out clause if you blab on about upholding the integrity of the sport loud enough while tucking your tail between your legs as you're getting the hell out of dodge.
Ruiz, Wallin, Hellenius are C level boxers. Ngannou wasn't even a boxer. Squeeze in two losses to Usyk and you have very poor record. Or was Pulev in there somewhere?
Well it's because the majority of this forum have never been concussed and repeatedly punched in the head by a 270lb professional fighter right?
Do you understand what the fight game is? Being repeatedly punched in the head isn't an excuse for anything around here. I have never before seen a fanbase say "oh it's not his fault he quit, he got punched in the head!" If you've ever sparred you've had a concussion. Fighters get concussions every single fight to the point where we don't even use that word. Are you guys all just footy fans and think you get a timeout due to concussion protocol? This is a blood sport. Please stop using this word.
Otto Wallin was regarded as Top #5 by TBRB based on his previous performance against Fury and following his win over Gasiev. Many were also arguing that Whyte also ducked him to fight Fury. I guess he isn't rated now though, because Joshua dominated him He becomes crap again.
Depends on how you look at it? Ruiz 2 was for the titles, but Ruiz showed up weighing 600 lbs because he never stopped the celebration after the first fight. Franklin did have a loss before he fought AJ, but it was a fight most people thought he won against a solid heavyweight. Pulev and Helenius were shot to bits. But Helenius did provide some entertainment so I heard. Wallin was a showcase fight to set up AJ-Wilder. It didn't workout because Parker upset the plan by beating Wilder. Ngannou is not a boxer.
A loss to Fury and a decision win over a cruiserweight who has shown zero ability to compete in a new weight class doesn't get you top 5. That's insane. You really think it went: Usyk Fury Wilder Joshua ..................OTTO WALLIN? That means not six months ago you had Otto ranked above: Hrgovich Zhang Joyce Parker Dubois Ruiz Jr. Whyte Kabayel Sanchez Everyone who reads this, please know that this is the logic I'm dealing with with Joshua fans. It's difficult sometimes, but reason must prevail.
Take a breath. It's not what I think, it's what boxing writers thought. Many consider TBRB the gold standard ranking, even above Ring ratings. Personally, I think top 5 was silly, but I have no issues with top 10 based on the dominant display against Gassiev (who has been plying his trade at HW for a while) There have been top 10 fighters without good wins, Dominic Breazeale and recently Jared Anderson for example. To me, your opinion is pretty wild too, if I was to balance it against TBRBs
