This! Ever since yhen he been scared of getting hit. And he lacks composure to deal with it when he gets wobbled.

He is more businessman, than a fighter.

He has no confidence in taking a shot since ruiz scrambled his brain, he's gone to being stiffer and less fluid than ever in there which makes him look even more basic than he is!

He's basically scared in there now his confidence is shot to pieces and he hasn't got that dog about him like a true fighting man is what it all boils down imo.

And it isn't going to improve now his opponents are better than the confidence building taxi drivers he was starching earlier in his career.

He's hit the ceiling of his ability too.

    Levels.

Joshua spends too much time lifting the dumbbells up and down. He's fallen in love with his bodybuilder physique, and has forgotten his fundamental skills in boxing. Also it doesn't help he hasn't been particularly active in the last couple of years.

I don't think AJ has any particular problem. A quality champion is what it is. If Tyson Fury, after winning the title, immediately defended the title against AJ; the question is whether AJ would even be champion, and in my opinion he wouldn't be. By coincidence, he defended the title against the cruiserweight ace and did not defend the title. That's it.

He is a mental midget and has a Glass Jaw. I think Usyk broke him mentally similar to how Fury broke Wilder mentally. You can have all the muscle and punching power in the world but when you are mentally fragile it doesn’t matter.

Lack of confidence in his gas tank and chin.

This can be argued another way though, Ruiz was too busy being an overnight celebrity before the rematch and gained nigh on 20lbs I think it was. Was seen in camp saying he ain't busting his ass for anybody and was partying like every night was cinco de mayo.
Pulev was 38 or 39 when Joshua beat him and struggled with the likes of Hughie Fury and Kevin Johnson prior.
Againt Franklin it is the minimum level of performance you'd expect from someone with world title aspirations.

    Although I do agree with the last part...except for me its a 7 to a 5 :)

Just throw him in with Wilder so he gets sent to the shadow realm and we get spared any post bell bully boy antics, **** is getting worse.

With Hindsight, he's always been mentally thin skinned with chinks in his mental and chin armour. Not too many fighters are the complete package, there usually are some flaws.

Wlad made the chinks into a crack.

And tubby arsed Ruiz smashed through them.

Having said that I give AJ kudos points for the two Usyk bouts. They were the best I've seen of AJ for boxing skill, movement, and gas tank. + What seemed to be some self belief throughout both fights. Negatives were he didn't use his best assets enough, size and weight and raw aggression.

AJ should have walked away from both losses to Usyk with his head held up high, there was absolutely no shame in those losses ( post fight breakdown excluded - wtf was he thinking). And maybe accepted he used the wrong tactics on the night. No way on earth was he going to out box Usyk....bad move

Compare AJ's first 4-6 rounds in both the Usyk fights to the Franklin fight. Had AJ mentally commited himself the same way against Franklin ( a far cry from Usyk) then I'm sure he would have had a lot more success and very probably stopped Franklin around the 6th round.

Will AJ ever fully commit in a fight again?.

    I dunno.

He's not a thinker, but he tries to think about his strategy in the ring on the fly. This makes his movements more mechanical/robotic, slower and not very hard to pick up on. That's a main problem. He has others though

Things just clicked at the wrong time for him. He was looking like gangbusters going in to the Ruiz fight but all that changed when he tried to bring his act to America.

He was able to rebound nicely but I think the death of the queen really affected him going in to that Usyk fight.
People only ever talk about Ukraine and the war, but AJ always looked up to the queen, and her untimely passing most certainly affected him...
Not in a good way, like when Yoda died, and then he appeared to Luke as visions during weak moments...
That never happened for AJ, you could see how lost he was over the stretch in the Usyk rematch.

I think he's nest days are gone now, he will soon become a gatekeeper of the division

AJ's biggest problem is his fame

Not the Marvin Hagler silk pyjamas thing, the fact that he could fight a Peckham binman and there would be 500+ TalkSport, GAD, BBC, ITV, Sky etc. interviews and breakdowns

It's baffling. No Fury fight has been this bad even as his fame has increased, and I had hoped it would stop or drastically reduce after Usyk2 but it was in full force for Franklin

''Simon Jordan, Gareth A Davies and Eddie Hearn heatedly debate that AJ must KO Chisora exactly 30 seconds into the fight or else he's shot. Not 32 or 47 seconds. 30 seconds. If it's 28 or 29 seconds however, AJ is crushing weak opposition.''
