What is Kovalev's style?

Aggressive boxer puncher. One of the absolute best styles to watch for folks who know what they're watching.

Kovalev's money combo was his aggressive rushdown 1-2-1. It's not something I've seen before or since. His opponents feel the power early and utilize their feet a bit more than they'd planned, but Kovalev steps with each punch of the 1-2-1. Decades in a gym avoiding the very common 1-2 make people complacent. It could be neutralized by staying in the pocket and countering, but this is much, much easier said than done once fighters taste the initial power.

 

That was what I meant when I said sack of potatoes. That was how he fell down when Canelo knocked the hell out. Oh and thank you for reminding me, we can also add complaining about not having enough time to recover and train properly to Kovalev's style hahaha.
