Lewis always looked horrible before Stewart got a hold of him. Even when he won, he'd practically knock himself out with some of his haymakers. Against Bruno, for instance, he nearly fell over after throwing a home run bomb and missed (and it certainly wasn't because Bruno slipped shots like Ali). It was amazing he made it for so long without getting knocked down; it was a shame that, when it did happen, it was in a circus fight.
Then again, one could say the mentality that Lewis showed against Briggs, Vitali, Mercer and the like was something that Tyson didn't show. Both had their respective mental problems: with Lewis, he hated to take risks and had a sense of honour; with Tyson, he lacked balls and had all the dignity of a dung-beetle.
I was going to mention that the McCall fight had a silver lining in that it meant Correa got sacked - most ****ing idiotic advice ever given in a corner in between rounds "just go out there and knock this guy out" Yeah, thanks genius :nut Congratulations by the way, that's probably the only time you'll ever read "Bruno", "slipped shots" and "Ali" in the same sentence
The only explanation I can offer is that Lewis wanted an American trainer; Correa had trained Sugar Ray Leonard briefly; Correa was also probably cheap and willing to cross over the Atlantic.
