He was a good fighter in his prime. Very technical, good timing with his counters and a huge puncher. Does he have a stand out win ?
If anything, it's probably Jennings in 2015 (on the back of Jennings losing to Wlad). The Thompson win in 2016 flatters Ortiz somewhat, I think.
Martin would be it, now. Former titlist, such as he is. Other than that Tony Thompson. Can't remember wether it was the Thompson or Jennings fight he has the PEDs bust, though.
Wow, a study of Ortiz' wins and the opponents his opponents beat shows that he really hasn't fought anyone who has had success against top competition. Charles Martin may be his best win. Ortiz actually seemed most impressive in his two losses to Deontay Wilder.
He doesn't have any great wins, people rated him highly because he passed the eye test and beat Jennings worse than Wlad did. He's getting a lot of flack for his performance last night, but he's clearly washed up and still knocked out a top 30ish opponent. It would have been interesting to see him fight a Whyte/Ruiz level guy 5 or so years ago to gage his level, but all we can do is speculate.
If not Jenning, it have to be Scott, who came of a win against Thompson and stole Ortiz some rounds (or it could be Ustinov).
None of his wins stand out. He seemed to bix best in his losses to Wilder. Aside from those two losses he really hasn't fought anyone of note.
